BMC Peer Health and Wellness Educators are undergraduate, graduate, and post-bac students who work to empower BMC students to make well-informed decisions about their well-being. They positively influence healthy campus culture through engagement and educational programming and outreach focused on various health and wellness topics. Undergraduate, graduate, and post-bac students hired for this position will receive training in wellbeing and health-related topics, including healthy mental health, harm reduction and substance use/misuse, sexual health, violence prevention, stress management, sleep, boundaries, time management, and more. Anticipated hours are 2-6 weekly. 

Requirements

  • Passion and commitment to promote holistic wellbeing in the BMC community – undergraduate, graduate, and post-bac.
  • Commitment to work to improve the health and well-being of the BMC community.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to serve as a proactive, collaborative, supportive, and reliable PHWE team member.
  • Ability to develop well-being educational programming that is equitable, diverse, and inclusive.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend events.
  • Ability to serve for the 2022-2023 academic year, 2-6 hours weekly.

Responsibilities

  • Promote health and wellness within the BMC community by providing outreach programming to BMC community members on topics of health, wellness, and safety.
  • Inform students of existing resources that promote health and wellness, and direct students to relevant resources and events.
  • Develop and facilitate programs and implement outreach efforts regarding a range of topics including stress, sleep, sexual health, physical activity, mental health, substance use, and general wellness to reduce stigma for help-seeking.
  • Attend weekly/bi-monthly PHWE Dorm Cohort meetings and monthly meetings with the Associate Dean of Health and Wellness to discuss health and wellness programming initiatives and their impact.
