  • What led to the calling of the estates general? Why was it significant? What were their demands? What did they want? Carefully attend to the way the term “nation” is used in these texts. How do each of the authors below define it similarly or differently? 

    What were the Cahiers des doléances? What did the various actors involved in the early stages of the French Revolution want? To what extent were their goals and aspirations similar and different?

    While everyone should read all of the primary sources, group one will be responsible for closely reading and analyzing sources #1 and #2; group two, sources #3 and #4.
