History Presentation

During week three you will give a presentation during class in pairs. Each pair will present a topic related to Bryn Mawr’s history. The presentation should be 5 minutes long and both members of the pair must attend the presentation. You do not need visual aids and can give a verbal presentation. Your pairs and topics will be assigned in the first week.

o   Bryn Mawr founding 

o   Why was it founded? Who was it for? Who was allowed to be here? How did this change over time? 

o   Don’t Forget to Remember (Me) 

o   What is this? Why is it significant?  

o   Self-Governance Association 

o   When was SGA established? What is unique about SGA?  

o   Honor Code 

o   When was the Honor Code established? What was unique about this at the time? What impact has it had on students over the years?  

o   Notable graduates (Emily Balch, Ume Tsuda, Enid Cook)

o   Tell us about them and why they are important in Bryn Mawr history. 

o   Historic landmarks 

o   What are our historic buildings on campus? Pick two and tell us about them. When were they built? What were they used for? How are they used today?  

o   Student strike of 2020 

o   Tell us about the strike and what impact it had on the College. What changes has the college made as a result? 

o   Black at Bryn Mawr Tour 

o   When did this begin? What is the tour about? What have you learned about Bryn Mawr that you didn’t know prior to the tour? How has this shaped your understanding of the college?  

o   Perry House 

o   What was Perry House and why was it significant? What happened to Perry House?  

o   Erdman Hall 

o   Who built this? Why is the building significant?
