If you need to refer a student to a different PAL, use this sheet as a guide.

The attached dialogue maps follows the 5-step coaching framework used in the "PAL First Appointment Guide" as examples guides for approaching the role play scenarios.

The framework includes:

1. Building Rapport
2. Identifying the Student's Goals & Motivations
3. Setting the Students Up for Success
4. Creating Action Steps
5. Wrapping Up Sessions

Staff / Resource Focuses:

• Peer Tutors should list the courses they tutor for in the focuses box. Example: CHEM B103, CHEM B104
• PACs should list Planning & Organization, Time Management, Procrastination, Study Strategies, Reading & Note-Taking Strategies, Test-Taking Strategies, Academic Accountability, Resource Navigation, Motivation and Academic Confidence, General Academic Support in the focuses box.
  • PACs who have returned from leaves of absence and/or resolved warning/probation should also list Return from Leave Mentorship and/or Navigating Warning & Probation
