    Instructors: Arlo Weil and Selby Hearth

    Meetings: 373; every other Friday starting September 4th; 1:10-3:30pm

    Course Objective: The goals of this seminar are to provide you with a culminating capstone experience that draws together and builds on all of your training in geoscience and culminates in an independent research project completed by each student in consultation with a faculty mentor.

    Class Format: The bi-weekly seminar schedule, with any necessary preparatory work assignments, will be provided on this course website in advance of each class. This course is principally focused on assisting you with developing, preparing, writing, and completing your independent research project.

    Welcome/Senior Project Topic Review and Discussion on the Scientific Process

    DUE: Signed senior thesis contract turned into advisor before the start of class.

    Instructions: All students need to read the following four papers and be ready to discuss them during class.  The long paper from the UC Museum of Paleontology is for a very general audience and goes very quickly.
