You can earn bonus points throughout the semester by actively contributing to our class discussions. These points contribute to your final grade as follows: points earned across ~20 lectures will be summed and divided by 10 to yield a single bonus digit (0–2 points).
Points Criteria 0 Did not participate in this activity 0.25 Okay — minimal or surface-level contribution 0.5 Good — thoughtful, well-prepared contribution that advances discussion 1 Exceptional — insightful contribution that shows deep engagement with the material Ways to Earn Points
Choose any of the following (or suggest your own):
- Lead a reading discussion — Introduce key concepts and guide class conversation on assigned readings
- Share a current event — Find and present a newspaper/news article that connects to course material; facilitate group discussion
- Review previous concepts — Write a short (1–2 paragraph) reflection on the prior class, which I'll post on Moodle for peer learning
- Other contributions — Propose alternative ways to engage (I'm open to your ideas!)
