Dramaturgy Cut-Up
You will compose a short one-act version of The Eumenides or Macbeth by cutting-up the text and re-arranging it into a new form. Your "cut-up" should place together sections of the play in a new combination that provokes a new interpretation of the text. To guide your selections and composition, identify a key dramaturgical question. What is a key question that the play demands we ask but does not answer? Or perhaps offers multiple answers? Rather than “fixing” or “solving” something unresolved in the play, your “cut-up” should demonstrate an awareness of where and how your key question is prompted by the text and how you, specifically, want to ask it anew.
