Tom Hurster's Video Introduction

I have made a video introduction briefly outlining my career.  I did so in order to underscore that the field of mental health with youth has changed, repeatedly, and in some ways profoundly, in the 40+ years I have been in it.  Almost all of the places I worked during my career are now closed (in reviewing the video I noticed that I did not mention that the Base Service Unit system under the national mental health policies inaugurated during the Kennedy/Johnson years ended in the late 80's- and Life Guidance Services changed its focus and mission, and moved from Broomall to Sharon Hill).  Treatment paradigms, locus of service, theories underlying diagnostic understanding have evolved or shifted, funding and costs are very different, even the clinical profiles encountered, have changed, at least to some degree.  My hope in this course is to provide a foundation that will be relevant to you 40 years from now- to help you to both engage meaningfully as you go forward, and to remain in the field over the long term.

I apologize that my presentation isn't more professional- still getting the hang of Panopto (actually this video was recorded two summers ago- the information hasn't changed- I just look a little younger).
