What a unique documentary! The quote that spoke out to me that can encompasses the motive behind adventure playgrounds is "better a broken bone than a broken spirit." This documentary reminded me of videos I've seen on social media of parents teaching their children had very young ages how to pour their own drinks and make their own meals. Messes are required, however how the parent reacts is what is important. When children are restricted access to items that may be deemed unsafe, I believe that makes them more interesting which may lead children to access them in unsafe environments. There were times during the documentary when I thought where is the line? However, the play team showed that they take away specific things that may harm the children such as nails. Another interesting point was when the play team worker wouldn't allow a girl to go near the fire toward the end of the documentary and only allowed the boys to handle the situation. I believe this speaks to the gender roles in the UK. The document left me with unanswered questions. Such as is funding needed and are the children's parents present during their time there?
