Hello, my name is Sadie Sprague-Lott (she/her). I am taking the course as I hope to learn more about working with youth in the field of social work.
Over the last three and a half years I have worked with Families Forward Philadelphia as the Education Manager. Over the last year that is where my work site placement was for school as well. During this time I worked with families to support them in receiving the McKinney-Vento act to support the rights of students experiencing homelessness. This work was formative in my desire to work with youth. In addition to this, I worked at City Year where I supported students at Kensington High School with social-emotional learning and academic support.
My hope with this class is to get a deeper academic understanding of clinical work with youth. Throughout my work, I was unable to have the academic language or knowledge of clinical work with youth that I feel could be beneficial throughout my continued work.
In the future, I hope to do additional work with youth around education and mental health equity work.
