Hi - I'm curious about the children's groups that Boyd Webb mentioned in Chapter 13. I'm thinking of the groups, in which children from 5 years to 18 years can participate, when parents or caregivers are involved in substance or alcohol use or abuse. These were the groups in which children drew pictures of bottles, or syringes, labeled with feelings that the children associate with the substances involved in the home environment.
These groups seem like a helpful mode of therapy. As a kid, I think I could have found such an experience helpful, if it was available where I lived growing up. I'm not personally familiar with this type of group.
I see the three multi-state or national resources for children that are listed at the end of chapter 13. I'm curious about how such providers might be contacted --
-- thinking for the future, about possible younger persons in client status, who I might want to suggest attend such a group (if we can find one).
