Dear Class,
I am writing to let you know that we will be talking about the Akkadian empire tomorrow. Please do your readings as assigned. Owen has agreed to give us a 5-10-minutes presentation explaining to us what blackhole is and its mechanism so that we can test the theories on empire, which Aniya and Owen proposed.
Following our class is my gender class, which will be a lecture given by a Mary Lannin, member of the board of trustees of the American Numismatic Society. She will be talking about the major women coin collectors and bringing with her some examples of the collection used to be owed by a BMC alam. You are welcome to bring your friends to come.
I am aware of a possible walkout tomorrow elsewhere related to what is going on in the Middle East and U.S. involvement in the area. As I respect your opinion on the situation, I do need to make sure to maintain the continuity in our course. If you have to miss the class for the walkout, please let me know ahead of time so that I can think of ways for you to make it up.
Taking notes: As I put on the syllabus, students should use pen and notebook to take notes. Computer and other electronic devices are not allowed (barring special accommodation) unless one needs it for presentation purpose. I'd appreciate it if you also respect this policy.
