Initially, Isadora Duncan presented "The Dance of the Future" while delivering a speech in Berlin in the year 1903.

Through the writing piece "The Dance of the Future", Duncan expressed her meaning of modern dance. She tried to emphasize more on the idea of dance as natural expressions rather than the conventional idea of a structured dance. She also called out the destructive nature of ballet claiming that it deforms women's bodies. And thus she believed in dance as natural and free expressions of emotions. She even discussed her intentions of opening dance schools to teach young girls.
