Dear colleagues,
We are so delighted you are joining us for 2025 Online Teaching Institute! We're still working on some of the course content, but wanted to update you on two things:
1) Synchronous meetings have been scheduled
- There are five:
- Mon, Aug 11 @ 11:30-1pm -- housekeeping, discuss communities of inquiry and design goals
- Tues, Aug 12 @ 11:30-1pm -- workshop on essential Moodle tools and features; discuss learning environment design
- Wed, Aug 13 @ 12-1pm -- active learning ideas (asynchronous online discussions, peer review, etc.)
- Thurs, Aug 14 @ 12-1pm -- Moodle assignments and quizzes overview
- Fri, Aug 15 @ 12-1pm -- supported Moodle work time (hang out with us while you work on some of your ideas!)
- Click the Synchronous Online Meetings activity inside the course for Zoom links
- If you can't make some/any that is OK -- we will the first four and have links to schedule consultation if you can't make the fifth (or have more questions).
2) Pre-workshop assignments are now available.
- The pre-workshop module introduces the concept of a community of inquiry and components needed to make it successful.
- We're also using it to demo a collaborative annotation tool called Perusall, by uploading the pre-workshop readings there. Please post annotations and answers to question prompts within the activity so you get the student experience; we'll show you what the instructor sees when we meet!
