Oral Exam Guidelines

Prepare for the oral exam in pairs. We will identify the time of your pair exam in class on July 6 (during the first class session at 10 am). 

IMPORTANT: you cannot read during this exam. All the prepared material must be memorized or produced on the spot. Remember, we never read in “real life” when we need to use our speaking abilities.

Part 1: Tanya is in Smolensk to collect data for her thesis. She interviewed Lyudmila (we read about it extensively in this unit). Moreover, she interviewed another woman, who has an interesting profession. Create a dialogue between Tanya and her other research participant. Use the materials and vocab of all the units we covered. Your dialogue should have equal parts for both participants (that means it's not only Tanya who asks questions). Your dialogue should be similar to those Tanya had with Svetlana and Lyudmila (see episode 9). Your dialogue should be about 3-5 minutes long, with about 8-10 questions and answers.

Part 2: Think of this course you are taking now. Of course, it has rules, but you have always read about them in English. Each of you make a list of at least 5 things that are not allowed to do in this course. You will tell me your list during the exam (do not read). Think of such things as talking about the exams with other students, being late to class, having food in class, not coming to classes, using Google Translate in your homework etc. Remember to use DAT+ нельзя + imperfective.
