Academic Policies and Requirements
Completion requirements
All students must meet the following requirements in order to receive full credit for courses taken abroad.
• Students must carry a full-time course load equivalent to 4 BMC units – this ranges from 3 to 6 classes abroad and will depend on your specific program.
• Your major advisor must approve any courses you wish to count towards major requirements.
• Students must take courses abroad for a grade, and should not take courses abroad for credit/no credit.
• A grade “C”/2.0 or better must be earned to transfer credits. Note grades earned abroad are not factored into the BMC GPA.
• Courses outside the liberal arts, such as Business or Engineering, will not transfer; courses in departments not offered at BMC may require approval to assure their eligibility for credit.
• If you are attending a program where the language of instruction is English but the local language is not English, you will be expected to enroll in the appropriate level of the local language as one of your classes.
• Students are responsible for adhering to the BMC Academic Honor Code ; academic infractions abroad result in an Honor Board Hearing at BMC.
