EXPLORE: Recording Your Grades
You have options for recording your grades and sharing them with students. The most obvious choice is Moodle, but it may not be the best choice for all grade calculations. The more flexibility or complexity you want in your grading scheme, the more we advise using Excel to calculate your grades. You then can upload the grades from your spreadsheet into Moodle, so your students can track their progress.
If your grade calculations will be consistent and straight-forward (i.e., your gradebook will aggregate category and course-level grades using the Natural or Simple weighted mean method), then follow these instructions to set up your gradebook in Moodle. Please note that for graded activities such as Moodle Quizzes, Lessons, Assignments, and Forums, it is possible to grant exceptions to your policies. Follow these instructions to grant extensions, overrides, or accommodations to individual students. Likewise, you can create extra credit grades that won't alter your weighted means.
