Akpenamawu Ayanna Haa'Shenit Ma'at Ama Gora (they/them) is a Brooklyn native currently residing in Philadelphia. They are a coporeal doula, tinker, and a transdisciplinary artist. Rooted in the African diasporic experience, their works center Black life as a necessity for Black futurities. A graduate of Georgian Court University (BA) and Temple University (MFA), they work as a freelance artist, having had the opportunity to collaborate with artists like Lela Aisha Jones, Annie B. Parson, and Johnathan Gonzalez.
Founder and director of the project-based collective, Ma’at Works, and an adjunct professor at Bryn Mawr College. They are currently working with Black Spatial Relics as Communications Consultant and looking forward to continuing the development of their newest work, In De Back of God's Eyes.
