Optional: Tarlow, Sarah. 2023. The Archaeology of Loss. Picador. (pages 1-13), please be aware that this chapter includes references to suicide. If you feel uncomfortable reading or discussing this, please just let me know. I include it here as it is a touching chapter, written by a mortuary archaeologist whose husband chose to commit suicide (while battling with an incurable illness). For me it touches upon some of the reasons as society we are uncomfortable to discuss death, but also why, on the other hand, it interests us.
