ASSIGNMENTS
GUEST ARTIST: Shanel Edwards will join us for a conversation and sharing of their artistry and life. Please review the website to get a sense of their work.
Creative and Critical Practicum Workshop Prep: Review the guidelines before class which are on our ED course moodle. Bring concepts and movement ideas to workshop. What concepts will/are you work/working with for this practicum? What movement methods or approaches might you use from your movement experiences in this class and/or in your lived experience? What type of assistance might you need from a course community member to move the work forward?
Readings/Resources: Catch up on Radical Blackness readings/resources from last week and complete the readings below. Be prepared to discuss all readings/resources in class on 10/22/2020. (THERE IS BLUE HERE FOR SOME REASON. HOWEVER, DO NOT CLICK LINKS. IT WILL MOST LIKELY CAUSE CONFUSION NOT CLARITY. HA! Moodle does it own thing.)

10 journals total are due over the semester. Only submit 1 journal. We do not require a journal for each course.
Format
- name, date, course, title of assignment top left of page
- 10-12 pt font
- double-spaced
- page numbers
- margins 1 inch top, bottom, left, right
- 500 words minimum
5 journals should be a creative or alternative format.- ie: audio/video/visual art/movement
- some need to be accompanied by descriptions verbally or written
Be sure to balance your reflection with each course in your journals over the semester.

2. Complete the following in prep for our next class discussion. Flow through working alone and with your partner as you decided together.
· How is the work (movement, media, and or text) we are doing in the being/body in Diasporic Beings/Bodies, Citizenship, and Dance or in your own lived experiences shaping your thinking or values in the areas of radical blackness, feminism, womanism, intersectionality, abolition, and/or fugitivity? 10 minutes
· Create and record a gesture or movement phrase that interprets, reflects on, responds to, or demonstrates some aspect of your response to the above question. Post on our instagram page with a text phrase. If you really don’t want it on Instagram let me know. 5 minutes
· Upload written portions on moodle here or as a part of your journal later. If you choose the 2nd option please let me know that is what you have chosen in your journal. Please put your name, date, and course on your work. 5 minutes
· If you have time to spare, make a list of and describe the movement generating/making methods we have experienced in class.
