Hi Folks-
It’s been great seeing many of you in the Makerspace this past week! I’ve added some more appointment slots today, tomorrow and Sunday, so if you are interested in coming by to print/cut vinyl, wallflair or heat transfer, come on by!
If you’re still working on your images, I’m also happy to have you come by to work on prepping those for the printer. As long as the image exists in *some* digital format (even a scan of a drawing), we can work to get it to where you want to be. Sign-ups for available slots below. Moving forward, I’ll be making Wednesday noon-7 and Sunday noon-6 open for appointments, prioritizing folks enrolled in this intensive until the end of the month.

What’s next!
We're on the books as wrapping this intensive next week, but the nature of in-person meetings mean that we'll be prioritizing access to folks in the intensive through the end of the month. For folks who are planning on moving on (and not planning to schedule in-person time), I'll be sharing a few shorter prompts/activities next week, and for everyone else, read on below!
· This week we’ll be wrapping up stickers and moving on to *laser cutting*-- prepping files for the laser is quite similar to prepping cut files for the printer. *Caveat*- we’re working with facilities to improve ventilation in the makerspace—with that in mind we’ll be limiting use of the laser to times when we are able to keep the back door open. We’ll work together to learn how to prep for the laser, but projects will have to be scaled back a bit until later in the semester.
On Thursday (tomorrow), I’ll be sharing some laser-related resources and the following week our in-person appointments will focus on that tool .
· After the laser, we’ll be talking about the Riso Printer and printmaking tools in the makerspace. There will be both digital and traditional methods available to experiment with—I will be soliciting input and contributions from anyone interested in working with the makerspace to produce some outreach materials, but you are all welcome to work on your own projects as well.
· This will take us to about the end of the March, when the "extended" intensive (such as it is) will be concluded. Our last week we’ll be talking about moving into 3 dimensions! We’ll take a look at 3D modelling software (a few kinds), and in-person appointments will focus on ways to design/create from files or patterns. Options will include woodshop tools, sewing and soft sculpture, and (ta dah!) the 3D printers.
If there are folks that I haven’t hear from (there are a few of you!) please don’t be shy—even if you weren't able to fully commit to the intensive because of other commitments you have this semester, I’m happy to have you jump in if/when you’re able.
If you have maker or craft projects that you’re thinking about that *aren’t* touched on here, we’re starting to make more space for student groups and individual projects, so I encourage you to reach out so we can support your work!
