Hi all! My name is Isabel, and I’m a sophomore at Haverford. I'm planning to major in psychology or cities, and minor in classics. Outside of classes, I enjoy rock climbing and participating in CrossFit.

I’m from Mountain View, California, a suburb of the Bay Area. One thing I miss from the Bay Area is having a great diversity of ethnic restaurants nearby. Although there are aspects of my hometown I don’t like, I’ve definitely come to appreciate it more over time. However, one issue that concerns me about my hometown is the high cost of living, and the resulting gentrification of nearby cities.

I think rock climbing is super cool, and have always wanted to try it! Are there any good places around Bryn Mawr/Haverford for it?

In normal semesters, the climbing club at Haverford hosts weekly trips for bi-co students to the Gravity Vault in Radnor. It's an indoor climbing gym about 10 mins away. Once Covid is over, if you're still interested, it's a lot of fun and the community is great!

Wow! Rock climbing sound fun, I've been wanted to try rock climbing for the longest, but I might have a slight fear of heights.

Try bouldering! It's a style of rock climbing where you climb much shorter walls (over crash pads of course, so falling is safe!) but without harnesses and ropes. It's my favorite style of climbing, and I'm also not a fan of very tall heights.
