Hello my name is Stephanie Gomez! I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and I am Mexican-American. I love spending my time with family and socializing on the weekend while sharing a savory Mexican dish for dinner which has been the one thing, I miss the most from my hometown. One of the many things I like about my city is the diversity it fosters and having the opportunity to engage and learn more about them. However, the thing I dislike about my city is the obvious separation of socio-economic classes between the different areas of Houston which is probably common in other cities. During quarantine I have been binge watching the office, criminal minds, that 70's show, and watching a lot of unique documentaries. I also have been trying to improve my Spanish by reading, writing, and speaking more in Spanish. I even catch myself thinking in Spanish, so I’d like to consider that progress. Since I was young, I enjoyed trying new hobbies even if the excitement only lasted a couple of months. I have tried piano, soccer, guitar, the list goes on. However, I do continue to hone a couple of skills such as playing the violin and the ukulele.

This year I am a freshman here at Bryn Mawr college, and I am looking forward to diving deeper into my interest and learning through different prospective on a variety of topics. Coming from a large and unique city I love the ability to apply what I’m learning with my own observations outside of class. I look forward to meeting everyone!

I also play the violin! What styles of music do you like playing best?
