Hello! My name is Emily, I am a junior political science major at Bryn Mawr and I use she/her pronouns. Here on campus I’m a tour guide and a coordinator for the Overbrook art program. I was supposed to be abroad this semester in London, but obviously study abroad isn't possible right now, so I'm happy to be back on campus.
I am from Natick, Massachusetts, a suburb about half an hour outside of Boston. I love my town for its small community feel; we’re a town of about 37,000 but it still feels like one of those places where everyone knows everyone. We are also home to New England’s largest mall, which, while not a place I frequent, I’m happy for the convenience it brings me. I also enjoy the easy commute into Boston by public transport. I dislike how resistant to change my community is, and how the prevailing power of “townies” makes it harder for new community members to feel at home or bring new ideas to the town.
