Useful hominin resources!

Hi everyone!

I'm the TA for the Tuesday lab sections, great to meet everyone today! I thought I'd share some resources I've found helpful for learning about human evolution below.

PBS Eons Human Evolution playlist- 10 or so minute clips about human evolution topics that either don't get covered (like the origins of the human ability to digest alcohol) to classic topics like the origins of bipedalism and stone tool usage. Super useful, fun videos, with robust bibliographies in case you want to read more deeply. Cannot recommend highly enough! They also have tons of videos about paleontology more broadly, great resource!

Smithsonian Human Origins encyclopedia- an online webpage with tons of information about human evolution! https://humanorigins.si.edu/. I use this specific page a lot to remember things like dates for different hominin species. https://humanorigins.si.edu/evidence/human-fossils/species

AfricanFossils- online database of 3D models with tons of useful location information for specific fossils, including stone tool 3D scans from Lomekwi (the oldest published stone tools!) and all sorts of non-hominin fossils contemporaneous to hominins. You need a free account to download the 3D models, but you can access the 3D models in an online viewer with no account. https://africanfossils.org/

Hope these resources are helpful (or at least interesting!)
