A new study shows that around the same time when Australopithecus afarensis (Lucy's species) roamed the Omo valley in what is today Ethiopia, the area was also home to otters the size of lions! The species of otter was named Enhydriodon omoensis, and unlike living otters, it was terrestrial and not semi-aquatic.
