Hi, I'm Candice Powers and I use she/they pronouns.

My serious interest in social issues began during my AmeriCorps terms where I served in Title I schools. After my terms, I helped increase Advanced Placement access throughout the state of Alabama.

Currently, I am a program coordinator for a college access and success program. I am a part-time student with an interest in the community-based track.

I am interested in program evaluation and research-based decision making. I'm excited to learn and contribute to research methods.

Hi Candice! I'm a fellow AmeriCorps alum and believe we've had quite a few at the GSSWSR. I worked in Family Resource and Youth Services Centers (FRYSC) in rural Kentucky public schools. Very similar to what you've shared above, it was an influential experience in shaping my interest in social work - especially community practice.
