Hello!  My name is MC Mazzocchi, and I use he/him/his for pronouns.

I come to the GSSWSR by way of eight years of analyst and project management experience.  My most recent professional experiences were always in the overlap of Medicare Advantage, dual eligibility (or supporting Medicare recipients in receiving Medicaid) and social determinants of health for- and not-for-profit businesses.

Currently, I attend GSSWSR full-time, with my field placement at Belmont Behavioral Hospital's inpatient "mood" unit.  I also consult for my previous employer on a very part-time basis as both a project manager and IT analyst.

My future career goals are to provide therapy particularly to young queer and trans adults and also adults who experience disassociation in way that inhibits their day-to-day life.  To that end, I plan on obtaining an LCSW and likely additional specialized training.

I look forward to meeting, working with and learning from all of you!

Hi MC!
I'm curious--what made you switch from project management to social work? It's such an interesting switch!

Kristina, this is a great question! I look forward to learning more. MC, I expect you'll find that many skills that were helpful in your work as an analyst and in project management will transfer to your developing clinical work.

Yes! At Belmont, in particular, I think I am going in with a very good understanding of the systems underlying the care, which can make advocating for people's care more successful (in my experience).

The most concise answer is I feel called to practice therapy and I most agree with social work as the educational and professional site for training as a therapist. People's resiliency, how we come by that resiliency, grabbed me in my early 20's and never let go.

I earned my BS Psychology as an undergraduate.. Life experience gave me an appreciation for the increased dimension that social work could add to psychology.
