no topic
Jennifer met with Francesca on 4/18/24. She will be in Berlin over the summer. Other than knowing that she is not doing a design or exhibition thesis, she had no idea what topic she might be interested in. We discussed what makes a good topic, thinking about what place or places you want to study, and thinking about different kinds of methods and time periods. She said she would think about it and talk to me again about it over the summer.
Francesca emailed me 8/29 with a document with several possible research questions. The topic for all of them centers around functional segregation of cities and how that relates to social segregation. The questions themselves are all problematic in terms of structure, but at least she has identified an area of focus. I told her we would be workshopping questions the first day of class.
