Hi, I am Victoria. I am taking the course because I want to be able to consider employment with children and adolescents once I get my degree. So far at Bryn Mawr my interest has related to how Adverse Child Experiences (ACEs) affect adults, now I want to explore the child and adolescent's experience more directly. I have a background in teaching. I worked at a Special Ed. private (publicly funded) school in Manhattan for five years. I then moved to Brazil for ten years and worked in an English language school where I worked mostly with adolescents. After my return to the United States I began to have a lot of question marks concerning my own childhood. I am a trained artist and love to write. My internship last year was at Malvern Treatment Center, an inpatient rehab. I worked with men the first semester and women the second. I enjoyed leading psychoeducation groups with the women where we explored issues surrounding trauma. Next year I will work at Laura House, a domestic violence agency where I will work as a counselor. I am looking forward to our class.
