I really enjoyed how this reading broke down the parts of CBT starting with setting the stage in a way and explaining how the therapy should be set and implemented generally and then continuing to mention more specific focuses depending on the child. I really liked the usage of the team mentality with the therapist being the coach and them working with the client and those around them. This to me made a lot of sense in that a coach does not make a player but helps them to best play. The example also helps to look at how CBT must be flexible as a coach needs to be when working with different children. You can have a basic coaching structure but it won't work for everyone and mist be adjusted. This is like having your base intervention, agenda and therapeutic practice but then taking it in a flexible way according to the different factors and intersections of the child and there live. As well with this mentality there is a team and this piece explained the three C's of involving parents and again showed that there are different approaches and that while the child comes first to do that others in there lives must be involved in the process. Therapy and consultation work with a child is different than that with an adult and must be done so that it adapts to how a child can best be served. This reading help show the ways in which working with a child is different and who interventions can be adapted and changed for what they need as well how the progression of sessions and the whole therapy from begging to end should be set. I would be interested in reading more regarding how the therapist should be in CBT practice. As it mentions in the end that they must be cognizant of how they act and react during sessions but does not go more into it. So I have lingering questions regarding how one can keep things on agenda and if they aren't how to handle that both in terms of the work and in oneself? As well how does involving so much in the process such as videos, changing explanations, adjusting interventions and more provide both benefits and possible strains to the therapist? And finally if their are really set backs or regressions in this work how can agendas be adjust or how can that already be accounted for in planning of the work?
