From From the Tree/ ANDREW SOLOMON
I found this Video really touching. The red thread that connected these stories for me was a message of acceptance and unconditional love. The children in these families had narratives of “difference” and “marginalization” which Andrew Solomon similarly felt compelled to investigate because of his own struggles with identity and rejection.
For me, the video was a sweet narrative demonstrating the importance of unconditional love… showing again that families often are rarely going to be “perfect fits” but a child needs at least one parent to delight in them when they eventually feel comfortable to reveal their true selves. Everyone is different, NOT broken. Beautiful.
I loved the themes discussing what is an “illness” vs “identity” truly and where do these perspectives originate? What are REALLY defective?
