Hello, lovely students. 

I want to apologize - I meant to cover this during our first class, but it slipped my mind in the excitement of our discussion/drawing/community time. 

I want to briefly mention the Ruth Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design exhibit at the African American Museum of Philadelphia. It's fabulous - if you don't know Ruth Carter, she's the award-winning costume designer of Sinners, Black Panther, and many other projects you might know -- and, alas, it closes on Sunday. 

I am taking my students from Temple on a field trip tomorrow, Friday 9/4, at 2:30pm. You are all welcome to join us! I would love it if you would. I know it's short notice, but you are all included and welcome. 

I've also assigned a project that requires seeing a piece of live theatre and writing a brief response paper, critiquing the costume design. If you so choose, you can go to the Ruth Carter exhibit instead. (Even if you can't join us on Friday, but you can get there before the exhibit closes). Let me know if you would like to join the fun.
