The man is still the pursuer and the woman pursued, but also the woman has the pressure of declining him politely even though he is out of place, because reacting rudely would be a stain on her character.

The woman’s counter-argument is that his quality still does not change what he is, making her metaphors of a thin horse that trots is still better than a donkey with a graceful gait.
