1) I found the dimension of visibility very interesting because in modern/traditional surveillance there must be a person doing the surveilling, however in postmodern/new surveillance the information can be stored by a computer and potentially never looked at. The person being watched is being surveilled nonetheless. Also, despite it being very possible to see postmodern surveillance --- like cameras for example --- the invisibility comes in in how the information isn't stored in an easily accessible place.
2) The disadvantage that struck me the most was how on page 45 Lavater says that physiognomy could "weaken this already too powerful motive for human actions" by making so people only judge peoples' character on their outer appearance instead of on their actual character and actions.
3) On plate XI, on page 114, specifically number 6 there are some definite racism issues here, especially with how Lavater calls the woman on the right "brutal corruption".
