Question: Winsbury touched on the impact that religion had on the switch from scrolls to a codex, but I wondered: Did the tradition of Pagan mythology often being spread through oration (and/or poetry/song/performances) have an effect on the scroll eventually “losing” to Codices?
Comment: I’d known that the eventual shift from scrolls had a correlation to the rise of Christianity, but I’d never thought deeper into the possible reasons why they’d decide to adopt a new way of recording information. The points brought up made quite a lot of sense and reminded me of modern sources of information/communication (specifically the differences between older and newer social media) and contemplate how/why the internet has evolved in the way that it has.
