Having had a placement before through the class of Special Education in the Bi-Co, I think I feel a little more confident than the first time. I have also expanded my work with students outside of placement, which always helps with reassurance. Despite these notes I think it's fair to say that every new experience teaching comes with a little fear and excitement. I have a semi-confirmed placement at Southwark for my placement. I have spent a lot of time working in private schools, even in other placements that have been where most of my experience has been. The reality is that it leads to a very niche experience, so I think it will be interesting to compare those experiences to being in public school. Overall, I am excited and nervous to be in a different type of school environment. I am also a little nervous about the Spanish element and focus of the school. Although I do have a good comprehension of Spanish, I can struggle with my confidence when speaking. I don’t want fear to get in the way of learning from this experience. In fact, I hope this experience pushes me to immerse myself in the language more, but in order to do this I’ll need to focus on pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Lastly, I’m a little worried about the longer commute especially since SEPTA can be unreliable sometimes, which can definitely present a challenge and be frustrating.
