Generative AI: I hope we will work together as a true community, and that you will also engage vibrantly with the broader communities of the college. There is so much alive here, and I would like to carry out our class in connection with this life and turn from the use of generative AI tools whenever they are poor substitutes for engaging with living collaborators (in thought and action) and with our own skills and language.
For the time being, I ask that you decline to use any generative AI tools and that we as a class community share this commitment, with the proviso that if anyone would like to use it for a particular reason that isn’t a substitution for living engagement, we consider it together.
