1.The line that stood out to me to most was, “Ha, what a rare creature, how charming and adorable!” (pg 184). I’m not sure why it initially caught my eye, but upon rereading it, I find it particularly interesting how he called the girl ‘a creature’. It made me think of something I’ve heard about a human zoo. There is a book by Desmond Morris, although the discussion in this book is not the same as what I am talking about. I find her characterization as a creature a little dehumanizing.
2. My primary observation was the number of different characters they could observe through the window. The contrasts between the two older women selling things and the young women walking through the market was striking, and showed how no person is the same as another.
