Hi Nomi! I think it's so cool that you've already done some language education work - it'll be really interesting to put that into practice during your placement, and to see if/how it lines up with your partner educator's approach and strategies. I'm also curious about what my role in the classroom will be, as it's different at each placement site (and honestly, it differs within each placement site too, varying from classroom to classroom). However, after having a few Ed placements so far, I feel like I can generally expect that, when I'm not simply observing the classroom, I will follow the lead and take clear instructions from my host teacher. I have rarely been expected to lead anything on my own, and when I have, it's only after having been in the classroom for long enough that I understand the teacher's approach and what they need from me. While I definitely do bring my own tools into the classroom, especially if I am supporting students as they do independent work, I tend to take most of my cues from my partner teacher, such that I follow their model deliberately while still being able to bring my own passion, understanding of pedagogy, and strengths as an educator into the classroom.
