My Introduction

Hello!

I'm the Makerspace Coordinator-- I came on board last spring (about a month before we had to shut the campus down), so in a lot of ways I'm still new here and finding my way around.  I'm really looking forward to this intensive as a chance to learn more about all of you, your interests, and how you'd like to see our campus makerspace evolve. I would also like to see pictures of all of your pets.

I've worked in a lot of craft/DIY/maker fields -- I started off as a scenic artist (and puppet builder!) in film/theater/television production, and over the years I've worked as a carpenter, in a printmaking and book arts workshops, costume studios, and on more freelance fabrication jobs than I can count. More recently, I've been involved with open source/DIY hardware communities working on issues related to environmental justice (I'll talk a bit more about those later).

Before I came to Bryn Mawr, I had been living in Brooklyn NY, and remain connected with projects and collaborators there. Covid has definitely changed the ways that I like to work, but a silver lining (such as there is one) seems to be a recommitment throughout the global community to thinking about ways that makers can work together to make an impact.

What I'm working on!

I had been working on a participatory event with giant puppets, but that's been put on hold until the pandemic and travel challenges ease up.

I'm really interested in mechanical and kinetic art, and have been thinking about that more as a storytelling vehicle. I'm *also* interested in building a DIY weather station :-) Let's talk to satellites!
