Both Massey and Urbanization 2s emphasize the importance of place-based perspective amidst the growth of global or "planetary" urban theory. How can geographers and urbanists acknowledge to the specifities of place while attempting to discern broader (even global?) patterns? Can there exist an all-encompassing theory of the "urban" without necessarily ignoring difference?
