I really like what you bring up about making someone feel less invisible. I think education to me is so much more about those little moments of empathy and understanding than it is about the actual delivery of knowledge, and I appreciate how much thought you are putting into your place in the classroom. I am interested to hear your insights further into the course as someone who has gone through school in a different language before. I hope that it will allow you to connect deeply with the students in your host classroom. I share your anxieties about the specifics of the placement, and I am also eager to feel comfortable and at home with the students. In the childcare job I worked in high school, the group of kids was so consistent that when I left, many of the older kids expressed to me that I felt like an older sibling to them and the community there was so important to me. I am hoping I think to be able to get a genuine connection with my students and my teacher, and I hope that the limited time allows for that.
