Hello!
This (concurrently with ED 210) is my first education class at Bryn Mawr, and consequently my first experience of fieldwork/internships. I have never been in an educator role in a traditional classroom setting before, and I'm worried that I will find massive blindspots in my knowledge base because of that. However, that very unfamiliarity is also really compelling to me, because I think I will be able to learn a lot by analyzing the way that a class functions. I tend to like to learn by failing first, but that's also something that holds much higher stakes in the fieldwork setting, so while I usually do not particularly struggle with perfectionism, I think that I may begin to in this placement since the work is something that is so meaningful to me. I find myself being drawn to more active and hands-on classes and activities, because I far prefer to be doing tangible work rather than work that is deeply introspective or intellectual, and I'm really excited for that to begin being a part of this class, and to debrief the work with others who want to think about it deeply.
