Hi everyone,

My name is Alex (he/him), and I'm a sophomore at Haverford.  I am planning on majoring in Cities, although I actually arrived last year expecting to end up in history.  I'm from Millburn, NJ, which is near NYC.  There are several things I like about the place, including how close together everything is.  Nothing is more than a 20 minute drive away, and you can often take the train to other towns (don't make fun of NJ Transit, they're trying.)  I took 190 last year and had a fantastic time, and am now also taking Studio at Bryn Mawr.  I really do enjoy the Cities program, although personally I prefer the more physical parts of it.  I'm also interested in poli sci and French.

Some other things about me: I have a twin sister who goes to Smith, I play guitar in the bi-co Jazz Ensemble, I play ice hockey (poorly) with the Lame Ducks, and I've got two wonderful dogs.  My family also owns a toy store, which is always fun to work at.  I'm happy to chat about anything, so please do leave a message.

Hi Alex,

Besides the fact that my name is also Alex, we share a ton of the same interests. Right now I'm also taking Poly Sci and French! What is it like living close to a big city like New York?

Hi there Alex!

Being next to the city is pretty cool, because it presents a lot of opportunities. It's a bit like being here at Haverford - not quite city, but you can (at least in the past) just head in any time. I see from your bio that you're from Portland, which is awesome. I've never been myself, but would love to go some day. It seems like a wonderful city, although a bit smaller than I'm used to.
