A relatively new initiative, MMUF will help you get through the graduate school application process when you're not on campus anymore AND will keep you in the Mellon community during your gap year. No application is required, simply register here. You can also learn more about the program through this video series, through this message from the foundation.

Every year since 1995, Harvard University's MMUF program has published the MMUF Undergraduate Journal, a collection of scholarly articles by undergraduate MMUF fellows from across the program's member institutions. The aim of this rigorously edited journal is not only to serve as a showcase for fellows’ research and scholarship, but to provide undergraduates with an early glimpse into the processes and expectations of scholarly publishing.
The Journal's annual call for papers is sent out to the MMUF community in spring, with submissions due June 16 for publication the following winter. Inquiries about the Journal may be directed to Harvard MMUF coordinator Greg Llacer at MMUFJournal@gmail.com. You can read the 2017 issue here.

The IRT offers two distinct programs: the Summer Workshop for college juniors and seniors who intend to pursue graduate study immediately upon completion of their undergraduate degree; and, the Associate Program for college juniors and seniors, recent graduates, and working professionals who want to continue their graduate education in the humanities, social sciences and education.
